We climbed 5,200 ft 300 times today — and it’s not how you think

Lisa shares a family altitude-training session and discusses mitochondria, glucose use and insulin sensitivity.

We trained at 3,600 and 5,200 feet, and it has become a family health affair, each of us seeking it for different reasons, though the principle is the same.

Short, controlled hypoxic sessions like this activate a pathway called AMPK, the same one your body switches on with exercise. Research shows this can improve how efficiently your mitochondria use glucose and support better insulin sensitivity.

Thank you to Altitude Vancouver for having us. Melissa and Dave run an incredible space.
