Mind and Body Reconnection

Most of us aren’t afraid of love. We’re afraid of feeling.

Over time, through no fault of your own, it is easy to lose touch with who you are and how you feel. This is where we gently find our way back, to yourself first, and then to the people you love.

Lisa Watson laughing among the garden vines, in black and white

Does this sound like you?

  • Eye contact feels uncomfortable, even with people you love.
  • You can’t remember the last time you felt truly happy in your body.
  • You rush through your days and rarely stop to feel anything at all.
  • You feel far away from your partner or a close friend, and you’re not sure why.
  • You live from the neck up, thinking instead of feeling.
  • You reach for your phone, food or busyness the moment a feeling rises.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means you have learned to protect yourself from feeling. That is why so many of us find eye contact hard. The good news is that what was learned can be gently unlearned.

“Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Period.”

Dr. Robert Waldinger, director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest study of adult life ever done

Loneliness can take hold quietly, like a virus. Together, we move it out. So many of us are rushing through life instead of living in the present and feeling what alive truly feels like. Yet very few people are helping us reconnect with our own bodies first. That is where this work begins.

When you choose to feel, loneliness loses its hold.

A note for men

You are not alone. You never were.

Loneliness is hitting men hard right now, especially younger men. In a 2025 Gallup survey, 1 in 4 young American men said they felt lonely for a lot of the previous day, one of the highest rates in the Western world. Since 1990, the share of men with six or more close friends has fallen from 55% to 27%, and 15% now say they have no close friend at all.

Here is what I want you to know. Loneliness is another protection feeling. It shows up when the mind and body have lost touch, to keep you guarded. But you are energy, always flowing and always connected, so you are never truly alone. When your mind and body reconnect, you don’t have to fight loneliness or push it away. It can soften and merge with your stronger, confident self, and give you permission to live in the present, with no expectation other than to just be.

Many young men also reach for screens when the feeling gets heavy: endless scrolling, gaming, late-night content that gives an instant hit but leaves them flatter and more alone than before. That is not weakness. It is the brain looking for connection in the fastest place it can find. The mind is powerful and deeply visual. In hypnosis, we use rich imagery of real connection, warmth and presence, so your brain’s reward system can rediscover what genuine closeness feels like, and real life starts to feel good again.

Research backs this up. In a randomized trial, people who learned to notice and accept their feelings, rather than push them away, felt significantly less lonely and had more daily social contact within two weeks. Those who only monitored their feelings saw no change (Lindsay et al., 2019).

So many men carry the pressure to handle everything on their own. You don’t have to. Sessions are private, online or in person, and there is nothing you need to explain or perform.

What tantric really means

Tantric is simply energy, being held.

Many people find it hard to even say the word tantric, because in Western culture it has been labelled as only about sex. That is censoring language. In its truest sense, tantric is energy: the masculine and feminine energy we each hold within us, and the energy held between two people.

We all need to feel, and to feel comfortable in our own skin. When was the last time you brushed your hair slowly in the mirror, or put your hand on your heart just to feel it beat? Most of us are simply too rushed.

A broken relationship with yourself can grow into resentment held in the body. When we gently delayer the sabotaging thoughts and memories, honour the positives in your journey so far, and build strong self-belief, your unconscious mind and your body begin to communicate once again.

The deeper concept

Shakti and Shiva

Hypnosis and greater bodymind awareness work in both directions. Freedom of the mind may allow a fuller experience of the body, and awareness of the body may help quiet the mind.

In the mind’s eye we can experience Shakti, the feminine energy of movement, creativity and expression, and Shiva, the masculine energy of stillness, awareness and presence. Both energies live in all of us, and they can flow and exchange in men and women alike.

Together we breathe instead of rush. We reflect, stay present with our own emotions or those of a partner without needing to control them, and simply be. Excitement is felt, and the energy is allowed to flow. Through breath, eye contact and gentle touch, your own or a partner’s, we stay in relaxed, attentive connection.

Many women find they can dance and breathe without self-consciousness, with less rumination, judgement and pressure to perform. Like a flower, a woman often grows through the busy years of family life, then blooms as she enters the phase of her mature self, looking back on every stage of growth with learning and a feeling of accomplishment. She becomes more conscious of touch, warmth, emotion and pleasure, without guilt.

Men and women alike can be vulnerable, playful in thought, passionate or quiet, without fear. Silence and mental imagery are some of the best ways to guide the mind back into joy and the mind and body connection.

My signature technique

Hypnotantive Energy™

Hypnotantive Energy™ Energy work, guided through hypnosis, designed to remove the blocks that have layered over time and created self-sabotage, and to restore your connection with yourself and with others.

Life leaves layers. Over the years they build into a kind of armour in the body, protecting you from feeling. In a deeply relaxed state, I use guided visual imagery and sensory techniques to gently lift those layers. As they lift, confidence in yourself and your abilities returns, and the armour often softens and falls away. Mind, body and soul begin to work together again.

Feeling disconnected is not a flaw. It is your protection response doing exactly what it was designed to do: keep you safe. It was simply never meant to stay switched on. Hypnosis helps it dial down, so you are free to feel whatever you need to feel, without it stealing your joy. Because hypnosis works through imagery and the unconscious mind, change can happen quickly. It is a true mind freedom technique.

Self

Coming home to your own body. Learning to look yourself in the eye, feel your heart beat, and trust what you feel again.

Self to friend

When you are grounded in yourself, you stop reading false feelings into the people around you. Friendships feel easier and more honest.

Self to partner

Rekindling the synchronous energy between you and your partner, so you meet each other with presence instead of old patterns.

What the research says

Connection is not a luxury.

Self
“We can’t selectively numb emotion. Numb the dark and you numb the light.”

What this means: when we shut out pain, we shut out joy too. In this work we don’t push stress or feelings away. We let them merge with all our other feelings, and allow the unconscious mind to do its gentle work.

The SYNCH Method™

A simple practice you take home with you. Do it on your own in a mirror, or with your partner.

  1. SSoothe. Place a hand on your heart and feel it beat.
  2. YYes. Say, silently or out loud, “I’m here with you.”
  3. NNose breath. Breathe slowly through your nose, together.
  4. CConnect. Hold a soft, steady gaze. The soul gaze.
  5. HHold. Gently stroke the outer arms, yours or your partner’s.

This is a very powerful technique. Be prepared to feel, and to synchronize with yourself. Then meet others with your new energy. Get into the Hypnotantive State™.

Self to partner

Feel each other again.

When you are disconnected from yourself, it can show up as false feelings about your partner, distance, or old patterns of sabotage. As you reconnect with your own body, you have more to give, and you can receive more too.

Couples sessions use the SYNCH Method™ together: hands on hearts, breath matched, eyes meeting, held in presence. It can feel like seeing each other for the first time in years.

Frequently asked questions

Can hypnosis help with loneliness?

Loneliness is a protection feeling that shows up when we lose touch with ourselves. Hypnosis helps the mind and body reconnect, so you can feel again, accept what you feel instead of pushing it away, and meet others with new energy. Many people find that loneliness softens as their connection with themselves grows.

Is this about sex?

No. In the West the word tantric has been labelled as only sexual, but in its truest sense it is about energy: the energy you hold within you and the energy held between two people. This work is about presence, breath and feeling.

Do I need a partner?

No. You can book a solo session, or both partners can be present. Many people begin with themselves, and the SYNCH Method™ can be done on your own in a mirror. The pricing and intake form are the same either way.

Is there touch in a session?

Any touch in this work is your own, such as a hand on your heart, or between you and your partner, guided by my voice. Sessions are fully clothed and professional.

Can this be done online?

Yes. Sessions work beautifully by Zoom from the comfort of your own home, or in person on Vancouver Island.

Does this replace counselling or medical care?

No. This is hypnosis and energy work, not therapy or medical treatment. Please keep following the guidance of your health care providers.
